Because everyone comes to me with a different set of physical conditions and expectations for their future, the initial evaluation and treatment planning process can vary widely. At your initial appointment we will spend some time getting to know each other and exploring what you want in a dentist and for your mouth. If there is anything that has kept you from achieveing your dental goals in the past, you will have a chance to explore how things might be different in your future.

Together we will do a complete examination of hard and soft tissues, the jaw joint , your bite, and any cosmetic concerns that you have will be done. All necessary records will be taken. These might include photographs, x-rays, and diagnostic models. If you have had x-rays taken within the last year, please bring them with you or have them forwarded to us so that we won’t take any unnecessary films.

We might discuss treatment options at your first appointment if it is appropriate, but usually we will schedule a second appointment so we can evaluate the models, photographs, and x-rays together. It is extremely important to me that you make an informed choice about your treatment. I’ll do my best to provide professional guidance, but it is your mouth, and I have found that the more knowledgeable and responsible you are for the decisions regarding your care, the more successful your treatment will be. Together we can see if there are conditions that exist that you would like changed, and explore the options available to close the gap between what exists and what you would like to have for your smile and your dental health.
